Consider This Events

IndieWire hosts Consider This Events several times throughout the year, timed to the respective Oscars and Emmys seasons. These are collections of panels moderated by IndieWire staff showcasing above- and below-the-line talent from the year’s top movies and TV shows contending for awards. Guild members and awards voters are eligible to request an invitation, and there’s always a reception with drinks or lunch provided as well.

Past film-focused Consider This Events have featured talent from “Knives Out,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and “Thirteen Lives,” such as costume designers Ruth E. Carter and Sandy Powell, production designer Eugenio Caballero, composer Nathan Johnson, and director Ron Howard. IndieWire has also hosted standalone Consider This Events to highlight one particular film, such as one about “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

IndieWire’s TV-focused Consider This Events have featured panels with talent from “Yellowjackets,” “Pachinko,” “Wednesday,” “Stranger Things,” “Beef,” and “P-Valley,” including actors Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis and composer Danny Elfman. 2024’s Consider This Event for TV was developed in partnership with Paramount+ and features Kelsey Grammer, David Oyelowo, and Matt Bomer among other talent from shows like “Fellow Travelers,” “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” “A Gentleman from Moscow,” “Colin from Accounts,” “Frasier,” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.”

In parallel to these one-off events, IndieWire has also hosted the documentary screening series Art of the Doc, in partnership with National Geographic, and the TV panel series Pass the Remote, in partnership with Disney and taking place at the Vidiots Foundation.
