IndieWire Honors is an awards event like no other. Held in Los Angeles, IndieWire’s premier event to recognize the best in creativity in film and TV captures what IndieWire loves most: To celebrate creators, bold visions, fearless independence, and storytelling that matters.
The December 2023 edition of IndieWire Honors toasted both film and TV luminaries from idiosyncratic auteurs like Greta Gerwig (“Barbie”), Todd Haynes (“May December”) and Chad Stahelski (“John Wick Chapter 4”) to rising voices that are pushing the edge of storytelling, such as Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”) and Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie (“The Curse”). Attending an IndieWire Honors event means witnessing iconic moments in the making, such as Fielder’s acceptance of our Wavelength Award (“I find it hard to get on anyone’s wavelength. Now I’m getting an award for being the best at it.”) or Lily Gladstone using her Performance Award speech to call for her Sundance film “Fancy Dance” to get distribution (it did).
On June 6, 2024, IndieWire is hosting the first-ever spring edition of IndieWire Honors, with an exclusive focus on TV. Consider the range of talent on-hand for this event: There’s a rising comedy voice in Visionary Award recipient Quinta Brunson, who’s quickly established herself as one of the most talented comic minds of her generation with “Abbott Elementary,” and Vanguard Award recipient Carol Burnett, with a career of over 50 years, who paved the way for Brunson, and is still turning in distinctive, unforgettable work as in “Palm Royale.”
